Becoming a parent makes a person reevaluate their priorities. Most parents can attest that a whole new list of worries flood your mind seconds after meeting your child! One of the biggest concerns is that of safety. Whether you choose the highest rated car seat for your child, baby-proof the house, or invest in safety gear for those wobbly days of learning the art of bike riding, parents want to make their child’s environment as safe as possible. Parents also find that this safeguarding extends to their choice of community.

We are happy to report that three local Bergen County Communities have been named as some of the safest places to raise a child. The communities of Westwood, Tenafly, and Ridgefield saw their names on this exclusive list of secure towns as rated by the national home security provider, SafeWise.

SafeWise used a thorough ranking system that took into account FBI Violent Crime data, registered sex offender concentration, school rankings, and high school graduation rates. Each of these three communities excelled in these areas landing in spots high on the list. Westwood was ranked highest in at number 20, Tenafly was number 22, and Ridgefield at number 25. New Jersey had ten cities featured on the list, three of which are these Bergen County communities.

Westwood featured the second lowest violent crime rate of all the cities featured on the list. Tenafly features an abundance of parks that SafeWise looked favorably upon. The group also praised the local schools’ focus on school safety through a school safety task force. The group attributed Ridgewood’s small-town feel and a strong sense of community for their safe environment and place on the list.

We all know that we would do anything for these little people we love so dearly. We all hope to make our child’s home a safe place. If you’ve been considering a move to one of these awesome Bergen County towns, give me a call. I would love to walk you through the home buying process and help you call one of these extremely safe communities your home.
