Just in time for you to wrap up your summer and start looking to fall, the Farmer’s Almanacs have made their predictions for the winter’s weather! While the rest of the world is complaining about the prematurity of pumpkin spice latte season (Starbucks released theirs on August 28th), the farmers already have us prepping for the wintry weather we’ll experience here in New Jersey.

The question is- what exactly should we expect? Well, that depends on which almanac you choose to trust! Let us explain.

The Farmer’s Almanac has predicted this winter will give our snow boots and layering skills a good workout. Their prediction for New Jersey has said we’ll experience a cold and white winter. While some of us are ready to brace for a rough and dreary winter, there are plenty of White Christmas fans who are holding on to hope for a picturesque holiday season complete with a “blanket of white.”

If your tried and true has always been The Farmer’s Almanac, it’s a great idea to start stocking up on cozy sweaters, wool socks, and oh-so-fashionable thermal underwear.

Of course, if you’d like a different opinion, you could choose to go with the forecast predicted by the “old” farmers. The people behind the Old Farmer’s Almanac have predicted the northeast will experience a winter with warm and wet temps. This is great news for any of us who dread the slush and muck that go along with winter storms and icy days. Those who want to build snowmen and sled down frosted hills will just have to wait for another winter, according to this prediction.

“Warm and wet” or “cold and white,” these dueling forecasts have us anxious to know who’s right! Will we get to model our best wool coats, handmade scarves, and cute beanies in the snow or will we be donning our most colorful umbrellas and galoshes for a rainy and unseasonably warm winter? Whether we’re dreaming of a white Christmas or planning on singing in the rain, only time will tell.

Let us know, which almanac do you trust for your yearly forecast? And who do you hope wins with the most accurate prediction?
